Friday Randomness

I've got about 4 relatively short blog posts in my head, so today I'll just combine them into one SUPER post!

FIRST

Happy Birthday to my two favorite twins in the whole entire world! You're both now closer to 30 than to 20! I hope you have a great day and that those sweet husbands of yours spoin you rotten for me.
(Stop on by their own blogs to wish them a happy 26th if you're so inclined: Amy & Jen.)

SECOND

It's great when you take the baby and send your husband to the grocery store all by himself. First, he stocks the freezer with on-sale yummy ice cream goodness:

And he also brings you home these: (there's nothing like a bunch of fresh from the local garden flowers!)

THIRD

Last night we finally got to celebrate out anniversary. Darin arranged for us to buy Dale's pre-season Seahawks tickets (Dale is a season ticket holder) and got his mom to Daisy-sit. We had a blast at the game and didn't feel at all guilty for the money we spent on snacks and drinks. Gotta love the anniversary freedom! And even though it wasn't a dress-up fancy or romantic affair, it was perfect. We could yell for our favorite team and cuddle unabashadly. And there's nothing more romantic than falling asleep with your head on your husband's shoulder on the bus ride home.

Dale ordered Darin and I both new jersey's before the game. After all, he can't have anyone in his seats unless they are REAL fans!

And how random and totally fun that our friends Tyler and Stacey happened to win tickets from the radio and were sitting one section over from us?! Tyler was stuck in traffic on his way to the game, but Stacey who took the bus from Kirkland was there right on time. So we got to sit with Stacey and visit for a while during the first half. What a total surprise treat!

And even more random? We sat next to a girl that was good friends in high school with my sister-in-law Tiffany. I guess it just goes to prove the old cliche about the size of the world we live in!

FOURTH

Because I know you all need a new picture of the cutie patootie herself...

Happy Friday!!!

on the bright side

Getting up at 4:45 am to feed your baby also means you can catch Monday night's partial lunar eclipse. (not my picture)

Taken on Saturday but I forgot to post. Man, the time is going by way too fast!

Just for fun, here is Daisy at 1 week old.

PSA

335559 Darin and I stopped by Rite Aid yesterday and discovered they were selling all their name brand sunscreens at 75% off. For a girl like me, with the fairest of fair skin, who LOVES the continuous spray sunblock because she can put it on every hour and not get her hands all goopy and she can line up kids and hose them down, this was a BIG deal. We totally stocked up. I mean, $12 sunscreen for $4! I almost want to go get more because we did only get 4 bottles.

So go get yourself some and stash it away for next summer. (Just be sure you remember where you've got it!)

here we go...

Darin and I are off to California in early September for a few days. We're headed to Silver Spur Camp to interview for a program director position. I don't know much about the camp, but Darin is really enthusiastic and I'm looking forward to exploring the grounds and the ministry on our trip. (And Jen--it's only 12 hours to IF from there! :) We'll fly into Sacramento and then travel about 2 hours south-east to the camp. I understand its right near Yosemite, which sounds really cool to me.

I am nervous about plane travelling with a baby, so if anybody has tips, send them my way!

I'm really proud of my husband. He was contacted about this position after posting his resume on the Christian Camping Association website. They sought him out. I just think that is so cool!

So pray for us if you can. As always, we are nervous about leaving our home, but are wanting to following God's lead.

2 lovely aunties and 2 fun cousins, oh and an uncle too (but no pictures of him)

Last Sunday before we left Olympia we had a great breakfast with Debbie, Rich, Michelle, Maya and Macey. It was great to catch up, laugh, and vent a bit too. Daisy loved hanging out on the floor with her cousins, napping on her aunt Michelle, and then playing again on the floor with her aunt Debbie.

After Michelle left mid-morning we ended up staying quite a while longer. I wanted to leave after Daisy ate around 1:00, then Debbie offered us lunch and we didn't leave until 3:00. Man, I love my family.

Traffic stunk on the way home, but we had to swing by Darin's mom's house. So Gran got to love on Daisy too. And we got another meal in us before finally arriving back in B'ham that night.

This one cracks me up--Miss Maya was not happy that it wasn't her turn to hold the baby. Guess I clicked at just the right second.

And here's the little one, hanging out. Tummy time these days doesn't consist of too much head lifting, mostly it's arm/hand/thumb sucking.

takin' a snooze

On Saturday morning before we headed to Ocean Park Daisy and I took a snooze on the couch together. One of my favorite things EVER is having her sleeping all cozy on me, and then getting to close my eyes with her.

Darin found us and took some pictures.

And then I woke up:

Look at that sweet face!

Congrats Becca!

We are so happy for you and Peter. We were glad to make the trek (3 hours to Olympia on Friday, and 2.5 hours to Ocean Park on Saturday) to celebrate with you. And despite the rain, we really enjoyed your wedding and the beautiful location. I can't wait to scrap your album for you.

Here are a few pictures we took for all to enjoy...

Moving the cake from the gazebo to the house because of the rain was quite the adventure! And then the bride meeting the baby.

Img_7427 Img_7431

The other great part of this day was the mini Seattle U Honors reunion we held. I loved catching up with these guys, but man, they are doing some aweseme and exotic things. Ian spent a year in India, Becca's off to NYC to practice law, Nu-Anh's back to Vietnam for work on her doctorate, Meg got a Master's Degree from Cambridge, and Sara's off living the single life in San Fran. Made my life seem pretty simple and rather stale. But then I remind myself that I've got a great family, a warm home, and a job that makes a difference. And I know there are some adventures ahead for us for sure! (Oh my goodness, but that's a scary grin I've got in the second picture! What's up with that? I think we were laughing at how there's Ian surrounded by the girls, but that's just the way it was in College. Good times...scary smile...)

And before we trekked back to Olympia, Darin wanted to make a quick stop at the beach. While I stayed dry in the car with the baby, I made him take a self portrait. He's so obliging to me!

Img_7441

looks like she's gonna be a thumb sucker

Which is probably a good thing because we can't seem to get her to take a pacifier for longer than a minute. Plus, the thumb travels with her and allows her to self-soothe. But how do you keep it disinfected?

Most of the time she just chews on it, but every once in a while she'll get the sucking thing down.
