tonight

ETA: Darin and I both felt the interview went well. There were some awkward moments, some tough moments, and some triumphant moments. All-in-all, a good group of guys to spend two hours talking "camp" with.

They are interviewing three candidates and then will propose their choice to the board. If it's us, and the board agrees, we will be offered the job. If not, then we keep on hunting. We should hopefully hear sometime before March.

Darin and I are off for an interview with the hiring team at Lakeside Bible Camp tonight. We'll drop Daisy off with her Gran and then meet with the team at 6:00. Pray for us if you would.

it's baa-aack

Are you ready? I sure am! This Thursday night LOST returns. A bright spot in a TV season cut short by a writers strike.

Of course, I'll have to wait until Friday when it's online. But that's okay. I can wait.

For those of you who need it, I found this great recap video.

paybacks...

Did you see Darin's last post?

Well, here's one I caught of him last week. He had a headache so he cuddled with Daisy while she watched Einstein.

Too cute!

snow baby

We went up sledding on Mt Baker on Saturday with a group of kids from Awana. Despite the snow coming down hard, we all had a great time. Even Daisy, who LOVED the snow! She was happy as a clam in her snowsuit in the backpack, wiggling and laughing and sticking out her tongue to catch the flakes.

I guess we'll have to do this more often!

Darin getting ready to go on a run. And then, whoops, he biffed it!

So then we had to pose a cool shot.

Here's me coming down and NOT biffing it! (Although I did try to take out several people standing around, and did manage to knock over a junior higher at one point.)

I've never been up to Baker to sled before and it was an awesome spot. Basically we all sled down the hills and onto the frozen lake. Having walked around the lake several time during the spring and summer months, it was a wild experience to not even recognize it due to the snow.

Check out this cute girl:

And before heading home, we had to take a few more "family" shots.

personal realities made public

I read this blurb in a recent issue of Children's Ministry Magazine and it caught me so off guard I had to read it a couple times.

"'Thanks to the availability of inexpensive digital cameras and Web sites that simplify photo-sharing, Americans have a new favorite pastime: creating their own reality shows, featuring themselves-and anyone else they see along the way,' writes Jaten Kornblum of USA Today. 'While many, especially young people, think it's all fun, privacy watchers are eyeing the new trend, trying to gauge just how it'll affect us legally and shape us socially.' With kids putting their personal lives on global display-regardless of the boundary between fiction and reality-they're inviting the world, for better or worse, into their private domain; that's something no other generation has even conceived of."

It got me thinking about this blog, and how I happily put it all out there for you and the world to see, without any thoughts to negative consequences.

What do you think?

name that picture

Daisy and I had a little photo shoot this week. I thought I'd post 'em here for another round of "name that picture" or at least "what is Daisy really thinking".

I was playing around with the camera settings, that's why the lighting is different.

bathtime update

After a few days of our kitchen getting soaked during bathtime, we decided to move Daisy to the "big" tub. After all, she was one of the main reasons we installed it, right?

The first night (January 6) Darin filled up the tub and plopped her right in. She was so happy, just check out the pictures. Despite what it looks like, the water movement is not a whirlpool jet, that's from her happy splashing.

Unfortunately, the tub is a little slippery for her bum, and it was hard to keep her upright. Darin slid a washcloth under her and that seemed to help. But it was still difficult to be on our knees in front of the deep tub.

So that was the only bath in the "big tub" she's had so far. Now we just put her little blue tub into the big tub and away we go. She's still happy and our kitchen is too.

he's a big tease!

creative weekend

We kept trying to get together with friends this past weekend, but nothing was panning out. So we finally gave in, stayed home, eat good food, watched good movies, and were creative. No pictures were taken, but we had lots of fun.

FRIDAY
Movie: Happy Feet
Verdict: So/So
Penguins are always cute, but the story got old pretty fast. Plus it wasn't nearly as funny as the previews made it out to be. The best parts were when all the penguins were doing some pretty rockin' coreography. We were glad we checked it out from the library for free.
Created: Valentine Sugar Cookies
Verdict: Yummy! The red frosting was great, the white and pink were a little thick. The sprinkles and frosting writers from Target added a lot of fun to the mix.

SATURDAY
Movie: Disturbia
Verdict: Okay
For a remake, it kept us on our toes. A little gory at the end.
Movie: Stardust
Verdict: Fantastic!
We both loved the dead brother commentary the best. Great mix of comedy and drama. And who could resist Robert Dinero in drag?
Created: I finished Daisy's 4 month album and Darin made a card and a bookmark. He dug out some pens and ink that I never knew he had.

SUNDAY
Movie: Meet the Robinsons
Verdict: Great!
We both laughed very very hard. The dinosaur scene showed in previews was even funnier in context. Great story too. And the colors were incredible.
Created: Darin made another card, while I finished the batch of paper with 4 more cards.

Fun weekend for sure! And a great way to use up all our "indoor" time after Daisy went to bed.
