turning pages

Tomorrow is my day off from Blog365, so this one will have to do ya for two days.

Daisy is enjoying her reading time more and more. Her favorite books right now include Gossie & Gertie, Peek-A-Who, Jungle Animals, and any book that features baby faces. For a long time it was difficult to read without her wanting to chew on the books. But Darin solved that problem by teaching her how to turn pages. Now we can barely get through the words on one page before her little fingers are eager to get to the next. It really is sweet.

Here's a video I shot of her the other night. Of course, mama and the camera are a bit distracting, but she can still find the time to flip the pages.

sicky mama

So what happens to the baby when the mama is sick? Papa stays home! (Thank goodness at least one of us gets sick leave pay!)

Last night at about 9:30 I was bowled over with the worst bout of nausea I've had in a LONG time. I finally went to bed about 10:30, thinking I could sleep it off. Instead the nausea invaded my sleep and I had all kinds of restless, weird dreams. I finally got up at 1:15 and sat on the bathroom floor for an hour, trying to get whatever was making me feel so gross to come up. No luck. So I decided to hit the couch and read for a little while, eventually falling asleep. I woke up at 4:30, feeling better so went back to bed. Unfortunately, the feeling better didn't last long and I was restlessly sleeping until finally getting up to feed Daisy about 7:00. And I've pretty much been stuck on the couch all day.

I don't have any idea what this is, but it's yuckyness. No getting sick, just feeling like I have to all day long. And achy, majorly achy. And not eating.

I have the best hubby ever! Here's what he did today:

  • went out early to get me 7-up
  • took care of Daisy, including feeding her all three meals
  • went back out to the library to return an overdue DVD, brought me home some magazines
  • after the library he hit the grocery and video stores, grabbing some movies and a salad I love in case I feel better
  • brought me drinks and crackers and grapes
  • massaged my achy legs
  • laundry
  • played with Daisy and kept her entertained
  • went out again to go to the office because I needed copies made before Awana tonight
  • made lots of batches of food for Daisy
  • cleaned up the kitchen
  • just let me relax and be a total sicky bum

Next time he's sick, I hope I can be as kind and compassionate to him!

ps: For those of you who are thinking, "hey, I bet she's pregnant!" you bite your tongues. I'm not, I promise.

welcome to the blog-o-sphere

Driverdickandjackieaug07

My dear parents have joined us bloggers! I'm so excited for them to be able to share their adventures with us through the blog. They are looking forward to hitting the road and travelling the country when Mom retires at the end of April.

I'm pretty proud of the name I came up with for them, although it did take me about a month of brainstorming to figure it out!

Tales From The Drivers' Seat

my sister's famous

I've got about a million things on my to-do list this week, but since I got the grocery list done and Daisy is napping, I thought I'd spend a few minutes cleaning out my inbox. I am the worst about keeping my inbox clean, and I am the worst about responding to people via email. I don't know why I have issues with this, but I do. Drives Darin nuts.

But if I kept my inbox clean, I would never have re-stumbled up THIS jewel this morning. My dear sister works for the state legislature writing the budget for Higher Education. And she sent us this video in which she is interviewed. (She's the cute 4th one who says, "we all get excited about potato day." But don't click stop yet! She's featured again later telling us her favorite toppings, although I have to agree with Nick Ogelsby about the best way to top the tot.)

Okay, so it's only for the local Olympian paper, but I'm still proud to have my sister live on the internet extolling the virutes of potato day!

ps: HA HA IDAHO! Take that!

volleyball game

Did you see Darin's post about introducing our dear daughter to the volleyball? One of her favorite activities right now is to sit on the floor across from you and roll the ball back and forth. Of course, the only good-sized ball we have is a volleyball, so it seems rather appropriate in our family.

Our babysitter is playing volleyball this year, so on Tuesday we made the trek to Lynden to see her play. And Daisy had a great time. She loved watching the girls, watching the ball, and loved the cheering. She even joined in with her sweet shrill a time or too. It was really cute.

I don't know what we'll do if she doesn't like the game when she's bigger!

This post for February 23.

same post, two blogs

I posted this on my work blog today, but it's too good not to share with you guys here too.

An old coworker of mine sent me this video last week with the following note:
"Want to make this Easter the most memorable yet? Here's what the church staff need to do. Rehearsals begin next week."

ENJOY!

at the Eddy's

We had fun staying at the Eddy's for a night, even if they weren't there.

Daisy got to enjoy Noah's toys...

and his books too!

Of course, the fun quickly ended when we discoverd a plumbing clog and lots of water in the basement. Dad and Darin (did I mention my parents came to visit for the day?) tried hard to fix it, but had no luck. Hope you guys were able to figure it out when you got home!

she's trying hard!

When people ask us if Daisy's crawling yet we reply, "she's trying hard." Every morning when we come into her room, she's up on all fours rocking back and forth. But she gets frustrated really easily. I'm beginning to wonder if she'll ever figure out how to crawl, which right now is not that bad of a thing!

Coeur D'Alene Resort

The Conference we were attending was held at the lovely Coeur D'Alene Resort. We got a great conference off-season rate and were able to enjoy our deluxe room for a very affordable price. I bet the place is just hopping in the summer!

Weird though, the bed was made with no fitted sheet, just a flat sheet tucked in. And then two more flat sheets: one below and one above the blanket. Daisy had a hard time sleeping in her pack 'n play, so we were grateful for the King size bed, that's for sure!
