I'd heard on Facebook about National Garden Day, and decided to check and see if our local garden was included in the free admission offer. Turns out it was! And it was on the same day as Daisy's tea, so Darin decided to take the whole day off and we ventured on over to Bainbridge after lunch.
We brought the double stroller, but clearly didn't need it. This one was off right from the start!
A quick pause for a photo op. Anyone who knows our darling Dani knows that she initially refused to be in the picture...
but then quickly threw a fit when she wasn't included. Ah, life with a 2-year-old.
This garden is so amazingly lovely. I just recently finished watching Season 1 of Downton Abbey and couldn't help think of that show as I wandered this lovely estate. I don't think it would be hard at all to take a walk and a pause every day in these gardens. I could sit by this pond all day.
Of course, just up the walkway is a house with one amazing porch view. I know I could happily sit here all day.
The girls like it out here too. There is this cool tree with an area to "play" underneath it. We dubbed it the secret garden.
Apparently Dani was a little bummed we skipped naps. Or she is into planking?
Happy girls, a beautiful view, a sunny day, equals one happy mama.
After quite a bit of time on the front lawn we convinced Dani to trek down to the lower lawn. It was there I promptly handed the baby off to Darin and headed out for some good old-fashioned hill rolling.
I don't often take pictures of flora, but a few buds around the garden caught my eye.
And dear Dani, after a whole afternoon of being great, got a consequence for pulling a flower off of this one.
Can you believe there's even a waterfall on the property?
So we used a little self-timer action to get our family photo for the month.
Then it was time to load things in and head up the hill and towards the van. We were all in the mood for a little ice cream, but unfortunately Miss Dani had lost treats for the day as a consequence of hitting and we didn't think it would be right to eat treats in front of her.
Luckily for me, I was off to the ferry to spend a fun evening with Miss Jen, who was driving over from Idaho at that very moment.
Looks like a wonderful day. And, of course, the hill rolling was the best, right? Love, Mom
