We have a friend who's amazing organization Scarlet Road sponsors a 5K run every September to raise money and awareness in an effort to combat sex traficking. Since I'm kind of a runner now, and this is a great opportunity, I signed up to run.
And the family signed up to join me as a cheer squad.
After getting up early and driving over to Bainbridge, we checked into the race. But one little girl was ready for some food. Super Dad to the rescue.
Getting geared up.
While I was off running, Super Dad took the kids to the playground.
The run was tough, with a lot of hills. But I was pretty proud of how much I actually ran, and was super excited to round the bend to the finish line and see my crew, cheering away.
(May it be noted, while watching this video as I'm blogging it, Darin commented on how great it was that I picked up Dani to finish with her. "If I'd just run that far I'd probably just dodge her or maybe push her out of the way like 'I've gotta finish strong kid.' You're such a good mom." Gee, thanks sweetie.)
And Burger King for lunch afterwards? What a day!
