Way back in December, Daisy had her last day of First Grade. Her last day of First Grade at Cottonwood Elementary that is. We would be moving from Bremerton to Indianola over winter break, and so the last day of school before break was Daisy's chance to say goodbye.
They had a classroom party, and we made and decorated Christmas cookies to bring. Daisy and Dani loved walking the classroom letting the children pick just the right one.
And Dani was happy that there was an extra desk at Daisy's group so she could sit and enjoy some treats as well.
Final time sitting on the carpet.
Her sweet teacher was kind enough to ask if we wanted a class picture. Yes please.
And then some hugs.
And more hugs.
Miss Sudbeck was a wonderful teacher, kind and caring, patient and encouraging. Daisy adored her. We all miss her.
One with Dani too!
The transition to a new school was tough, especially as Daisy was now riding the bus. So not only did she have a new school, teacher, and classmates to contend with, she also had a bus driver and fellow bus riders to figure out. The first few weeks were tough and there were tears, but Daisy stuck with it and I was so proud to see her flourishing by February.
Here she is on our new front porch on the final final day of First Grade.
Here's the first-and-last day dyptch.
And, like always, Dani wants to get in a picture too.
I was able to snag a picture with Daisy's new teacher as well. This was her very last day of teaching as she was retiring after 30+ years in the classroom.
Since Daisy had early release and Dani had preschool that afternoon, I was able to sneak Daisy away for a special date. We had planned lunch first, but Daisy's teacher had pizza for the class. So I had lunch and Daisy had a giant milkshake.
And then we headed down the road to use a gift card she had been given for Christmas to The Dancing Brush. She picked out a small plate and decided to paint a lovely pair design...
...all while wearing the hat she had been given at lunch.
And there you have it, two last days of First Grade.
