My intention was to get here on Monday, to tell you about the busy yet relaxing and wonderful weekend we'd just had. But, well, here it is Friday and I'm just now getting to it. (Full disclosure: I'm pretty doubtful I'll even get this finished tonight. Wonder what day I'll actually hit publish?*) I tucked up into Darin on Sunday night, thankful for a little bit of labor, a lot of sunshine, some relaxation, a bit of laughter, and a whole lot of wonderful weekend.
Friday was a normal day: PreK for Dani, 1st grade for Daisy, work for Darin, and a morning full of chores and other random things for me. However, we were visited mid-morning by our pastor and his wife, delivering some food and small gifts for the girls, and a lovely box of chocolates for us grownups. Their visit and their gifts were a real blessing to us in the middle of all this heartache.

I posted the following picture on Facebook seeking advice on which one to eat first, along with the hashtag: FirstWorldProblems.

Later, after picking Daisy up from the bus, us girls decided to take the dog outside for a bit. Unfortunately for us, she is just not great at being off-leash yet, and we had to hunt her down a few times when she ran off. So we gave up and kept her on the leash.
Dinner at the dining hall was so wonderful. Not only was it delicious, but it meant I didn't have to plan, cook, clean, or do dishes!
But that tricky dog. She is not a fan of this kennel and she is really craft at getting out of it! This is what we came home to! Not only had she drug the rug and chewed on it, she still managed to houidini her way out of the kennel. (Needless to say, part of our adventures on Saturday included exchanging this kennel for a more secure version.)

Saturday morning dawned bright and with the promise of a lovely day ahead. It started out with breakfast in the dining hall (french toast, yum) and then a few Saturday chores. But by mid-morning we were all outside in the front yard. The family before us had built a duck house and a fenced area, but unfortunately we hear that keeping any sort of fowl around here is a futile effort: the raccoons and other critters are pretty fierce. So we tore down the fenced area, and the girls began their efforts to turn the house into their own playhouse.

We are hopeful that with a little bit of work and time and training our sweet Gypsy will be able to play outside with us without running off to explore the acres at camp. However, it is not yet the case. So Darin rigged up a nice long rope for her to be on while we were all outside.

Turns out not only is she a runner, she is also quite a digger. Just look at that brown nose!

And when we took out the fence, this tricky girl found an egg buried in an old nest. I didn't really get a picture of it, but she had a bit or two before we got it away from her. I'm pretty sure those eggs are YEARS old. Yuck.

Off to the dining hall we headed again for lunch and then I snuck away for a little warm bath while Darin and the girls cleaned up outside.
Then we loaded up the van and drove to Silverdale where the girls and I stopped by Old Navy and Darin went to exchange the kennel. My kiddos love the mannequins at the front, and it appears Dani has found her true love in this fellow.

Lucky for us, we were able to drop the girls off with Darin's sisters and sneak away for a movie. I had been binge-watching Veronica Mars ever since I heard the movie was coming out, and I was so ready for it. Lucky for both of us, the movie was excellent. And even if you aren't a Mars fan, I think you'd still enjoy the movie.
However, there were a lot of clever and funny quips throughout the movie, and Darin and I were the only ones in the theater laughing. Granted, there were only a handful of other families, but it still is disconcerting to be the only one in the room laughing.

Later that night, as I was doing my check on the girls, I just couldn't help but bring my phone along and snap a few pictures. It's not creepy, right? They are only going to be this small for so long, and Daisy's sideways sleeping just made me smile.

The next morning as we were getting ready for church, Dani dictated a card for me as she was very thankful for the little gift Pastor Tom and Gin had left on Friday. Isn't it hilarious?

I took the girls to church and errands and lunch while Darin stayed behind for work. So when we got home, he took the girls to the beach for a bit.

I wonder if we will ever tire of going to the beach?
And then ran into Josh (our facilities' director) and his family (that's a great story for another day) at the rope swing. We'd all been on the rope swing before, but the girls had never gone from the platform. But Dani wanted to give it a try. So Josh helped her and Darin took pictures.

And just look at that smile! I think she liked it.

Not to be outdone by her little sister, Daisy was goaded into the platform too. I'm not sure she had as much fun.

A little snack for Daisy and the doggy when they got back.

And then we were off to church again so Darin and I could teach Sunday School at the 5:00 service. Lucky for us the day was still gorgeous, so after the lesson we took the kids outside to the playground for a good long play session.
And I attempted a few swing selfies.

We grabbed some of my favorite pizza for dinner, and called it a night when we got home.
Weekend success!
*Yup, nearly a week later, the following Monday, I'm finally hitting publish.
